Minister Avcı noted that the ministry will make a new regulation concerning service periods of Turkish teachers working abroad and added, “We will consider the issue from the perspective of teachers and Turkish students living abroad. We will determine a period which will be profitable for both.”

Answering the question of a teacher about the foundation of an education channel, Minister Avcı said, “Education network is on our agenda. As a part of a pilot implementation, we have founded a radio station in cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute. We will establish a television program format according to the feedback we receive from the radio station.”

Services did not pause
Minister Avcı noted that bureaucrats of the Ministry of National Education did not pause and neglect their services despite the elections and went on to say that, “Actually, I believe that our bureaucracy performed well on this issue. Usually bureaucracy pauses when there are two elections in a row and when uncertainty dominates the political scene. But this was not the case for the bureaucrats of the Ministry of National Education. Our colleagues continued to provide their services as if there were no elections at sight during this period.”

Stating that the Ministry has been working in developing projects concerning existing problems of national education and one of these problems is the service period, Minister Avcı said, “We will consider the issue from the perspective of teachers and Turkish students living abroad. We will determine a period which will be profitable for both.”

Minister Avcı touched upon the orientation training of teachers who will be appointed in February and said, “Those who will be appointed in February will begin to get salaries by March and start their duty as teachers. But they will not directly go the schools they are appointed. They will receive orientation training for two semesters either in their own hometown or in any other city. They will have a senior teacher who has at least 10 years’ of experience in the profession as their consultant.”

Noting that there were serious “disinformation” or “scaring” campaigns about terror activities, Minister Avcı said, “There was a systematic campaign claiming that teachers appointed to the region will not go to their new places of duty. But only 40 of the 29 thousand teachers who were appointed to the Eastern and Southeastern cities did not start their duties.”

Bakan Avcı shared his memory about his painting teacher Cevat Ülger with the teachers working in France and he congratulated their upcoming November 24 Teachers’ Day.
